Error 679 - Cannot detect carrier
is caused when you are dialling the wrong number, your phone us
faulty or the ISP is down.
Check that number is correct.
Check modem is dialling correct number. You can
do this by listening to the modem speaker or lifting the phone
just after it dials. You may hear someone say "The number
you dialled has not been recognized" or the likes.
Check that you have not accidentally clicked on
"Use 9 for outside line or a code for long distance
calls" in modem settings.
Make sure regional settings are all correct, and
also country settings.
